Cryotherapy

Very low temperatures are capable of killing cancer cells. Via cryotherapy, a probe applies very low temperatures to the tumour, thus destroying the cancer cells.

This treatment can be used for small, superficial tumours and is mainly used for tumours located in the skin, eyelids, oral cavity and perianal region.

The advantage of cryotherapy is that it can be done quickly and only requires sedation or a local anesthesia.

As a consequence of this treatment, swelling can be expected and temporary discoloration of the frozen tissue.
